Twinning Weekend May 2026

We have just enjoyed a visit from around 28 of our friends from across the channel in Maurecourt. It was an enjoyable four day programme, starting with a pétanque competition at the Shoulder of Mutton on the Friday. Everyone had fun and the food and drink at the Shoulder were excellent as always.

On the Saturday evening after a day spent with host families we all headed over to the Wensum Valley Golf club for a soirée with a three course dinner, lovely views, and some superb cabaret singing from Jane Bishop, which was very well received by all, especially our French visitors.

Sunday saw around 50 of us enjoy a visit to Blickling Hall where we toured the house and gardens and thankfully the rain held off! Some sampled the cafe or the local pub, whilst many took picnics to make the most of the magnificent countryside surroundings.

After a vin d’honneur reception at the Memorial Hall it was then time for a final evening with host families before the départ at around 9am the next morning.

It was wonderful to see our friends from Maurecourt and spend time together. Aside from the formal events programme there is always time for relaxing in good company, or visiting local attractions in slower time.

We of course look forward to visiting France next year, but before then we have some terrific local events here in Brundall to look forward to, including the Summer BBQ in August, our own pétanque day back at the Shoulder in September, and a Bingo night in October.
